Art is a collaboration between God and the artist and the less the artist does the better. Andre Gide I am not an artist! Or at least I have told myself that. I was told I was wrong. If you can paint a picture with paint, you are an artist. If you can paint a […]
What a wonderful treat! The most adorable four year old girl decided that an Author’s Reading meant she should read TO the author, me. It was awe inspiring to hear her read my words, and do so well at her age. My guess is she had practice, but apparently she’d been reading for a very […]
Keep your eyes peeled for Deana, future author of a series of horse rescue stories, because this young author is letting her imagination Run Wild! I met Deana at the Utopia Fall Festival three years ago. She loved to read, wanted to write, and was a joy to talk with. This was the year I […]
The Painting 2 – inspirational Christian fiction Trilogy by author Kathleen J. Shields continues now!
Last year while driving to a trade show in Utopia Texas I passed by an old sign that said something to the effect of “Hill Country’s Oldest Pet Cemetery”. As I continued to drive on this very long winding Texas road I started thinking to myself how Stephen King ruined it for everybody. His book […]

Poetry, to me, is a very memorable form of storytelling. Like music, when your favorite song comes on, it’s not only the beat and the rhythm that gets you moving, it’s also the lyrics. Poetry is the same way. Quite a few authors are inspired by emotional situations, and that inspiration flows out of that person like music flows out of a radio. This is why, in my opinion, it is important to do rhyming children’s books. My goal as an author is to get children as excited about reading and writing poetry as I am. I hope you consider checking out my poetry book, “A Rhyme for Everything” or “The First Unibear” or any of my Hamilton Troll children’s books.
